The Prince Of Wales Feathers, Warren Street
Published: 13 October 2026
It was time for another one of my walking distance from King’s Cross train station roast dinners, with a visit to The Prince of Wales Feathers next to Warren Street.
Previous such attempts of a walking distance from King’s Cross station (because motivation is limited after a 2.5 hour train journey from Hull) haven’t gone so well.
Drake & Morgan scored just a 3.82 out of 10 with dry as fuck chicken, and The Marquis Cornwallis was another cannot be arsed any more journey from me, and cannot be arsed roast dinner from them with a score of 4.10 out of 10.
This time, I put in slightly more effort with a 20 minute walk from King’s Cross station, after a fair few more clicks on Google Maps.
Hope wasn’t zero.
Sparrow Feathers
Before we get to the roast dinner, I just want to say SCUMBAG WANKERS a bit because it’s been one of those weeks.
Firstly the deal to buy diesel from Putin, and Trump’s sickeningly sycophantic thanks to said genocidal dictator – fuck you scumbag wankers.
Then the annoucement of a livestreamed execution. Who are these people?
Fuck you scumbag ISIS wankers.
Yet somehow Donald Trump yet again didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize this year, despite stopping the war in Iran that he’s losing 120 times, despite not helping Ukraine, despite buying sanctioned diesel from Putin…
And, oh bless, is Israel upset. Scumbag wankers.
Seriously who are these people? Why are they leaders of various countries around the world and why do did people used to listen to Russian disinformation so much?
Crapped On By A Pigeon Feathers
Guess I should talk about roast dinners – something I have an imperceptibly tiny influence on, as opposed to world affairs.
But also…scumbag wankers.
No scumbag wankers were present at The Prince of Wales Feathers, though I was yet to see any roast potatoes.
Surprisingly the pub felt busy, for late Sunday afternoon, as well as being warm and cosy – we were sat next to the thankfully fake fire, as the Euston Road probably doesn’t need any more pollution, despite what some Reform councillors might think.
Also surprisingly – there were some interesting beers by Verdant. Craft beer in a central London pub – non-scumbag legends is all I have to say to that. An NEIPA, something about sharks, and around 6% volume – from a can, and not ludicrously over-priced either.
Don’t tell me the roast dinner is going to surprise on the upside either? My expectations were moderate, as it was a Michells & Butler pub…and they also run the aforementioned The Marquis Cornwallis.
Super Intelligence Can Fuck Off Feathers
On the menu was beef rump at £22.50, chicken at £20.50, porchetta at £21.50 or some vegetable nut roast thing at £20.00.

But also there was a special – lamb rump at £23.00. So I went for the special.
You could suggest surprisingly cheap for central London also.
So once I’d moved the yorkie around, we had this:

Yeah stop the small gravy boats, yeah I will eventually get around to using that domain name.
So the carrots were pleasant enough – they tasted freshly roasted, and, well, carroty.
There was a cabbage and leek medley, the leek flavour came out well – reasonably softly braised though still a little squeak to them.
Did Diana Have Feathers?
Two parsnips also – which were good, flavoursome parsnips (about time) and roasted for a reasonable length of time. Good work.
Can we be surprised on the roast potatoes?

Well, not really. A bit of a mixed bunch – they kind of reminded me a bit of potato tots but larger. One was actually really crispy and delightful, one was rather turgid and chewy, the others were kind of alright – quite soft, little in the way of crispy outsides.
It could be a lot fucking worse. So, so, so many times.
Believe it or not, the Yorkshire pudding was actually really good. Possibly the highlight of the roast dinner – normally when I say that its because everything else was shit, but actually this yorkie was really top notch – fluffy, freshly-cooked with a bit of a crisp to the top.
Not quite gold standard but it would be churlish not to be happy.

The lamb rump was really good also – yeah, I know, all this positivity is weird, especially on a Monday morning though I’m yet to open my work laptop and only have 15 minutes left until I need to log on, so when you read the summary it will have had a day’s worth of the frustration of my workplace influencing my mood.
Anyway, there was a hearty amount, nicely charred on the outside, nicely pink on the inside, good levels of hearty lamb flavour – some fat where you’d expect it. Yeah, this was a good quality bit of lamb, cooked really nicely.
My accomplice’s beef was apparently tender, well seasoned but surprisingly cold.

I had a bite, the lamb was far nicer in my opinion.
Finally, the gravy was a red wine jus kind of thing. Not really my bag, it did get a bit tiring but also it was subtle enough not to overpower the roast – though also subtle in portion control too.
STOP THE SMALL GRAVY BOATS.
The Prince of Wales Feathers
Well, that was a pretty good roast dinner from The Prince Of Wales Feathers – it’s nice to be surprised on the upside.
As is often the case, the roast potatoes could have been better, and the red wine jus stuff got tiring – but also the latter verging on a personal preference thing anyway.
The Yorkshire pudding was pretty outstanding, the lamb and vegetables both good.
My accomplice scored it an 7.80 out of 10, and I’m going pretty healthy too – a 7.75 out of 10.
Next Sunday is a birthday roast (not mine) though 5 days away and I still haven’t been advised where – could be a surprise.
